Tell someone... tell someone... tell someone...

Last night, a friend of mine sent me a link which both appalled and excited me. Check this out:

For those of you who don't master Norwegian, the little boy tells the dog  "It's not ok... I'm scared...It's a secret..." The birds encourage the boy to "Tell someone... tell someone... tell someone...." referring to (in this case) REDD BARNA.  In my opinion, this little add gives a beautiful illustration of a very ugly theme: domestic violence and parental malfuntion. This little boy has no one else to talk to, but this black dog. The good news is: REDD BARNA ("save the children") and BARNEOMBUDET, amongst others, are available for kids in need of help.

Another friend commented this video: "Children need empowerment to break the silence!" So true, so true... but they also need grown ups who are willing to listen! And ACT on behalf of the "little ones". So... how does this effect us? I don't know about you, but I want to be the change I want to see in the world and create a warm and safe environment for kids, whether it's in schools, homes or leisure activities. Are you willing to listen patiently to a desperate child's story? Are you willing to break the silence and be "a voice" for the "voiceless"? Do you have the guts to be a defender of the defenceless? Or do you simply close your eyes and turn away?
